2003 CONCH CUP

Hosted by Miami Yacht Club - August 23 2003

Hobie 16 Fleet

Mark Jones and Gail Rohrer win the 2003 Conch Cup overall. Not only do Mark and Gail take the Hobie 16 class win, but they also walk off with the overall trophy based on Portsmouth corrected time. Dick and Debbie Russell finish second in class and 2nd overall. Our wonderful and colorful master boat builder, Victor Pogrebnov and Fred Moffatt win the SP1 class with Victor's newest boat. A good Day for Cat 44 sailors.

Carnage is the word that best described this regatta. Eight hobie 16's set out for the 2002 Delray Drag Race and only one continued to finish the race. Danny Steyn and brave crew Stacy Tinsley braved the 30 knot squalls to win this annual event. Another Cat44 sailor Victor Prognebov holed his beautiful home designed20ft Cat "Orca" and it sank during one of the squalls.
